So Far So Good
Well I only bought it today and used it once so I cannot speak to longevity yet. But My previous mower was the same basic design and it lasted 15 years. But it's been down for two weeks now and I finally gave up and bought the new one, in the meantime the grass had gotten pretty deep in spots. The Pony 42K never even hesitated when cutting these high and thick patches of grass, and I was running at only about 3/4 throttle to take it easy until its broken in. Everything operates smoothly, steers almost like it has power steering. Very comfortable and not too terribly loud. No vibrations or noises out of the ordinary.

I am not happy with this Troy-Bilt I cannot get it started when I got the machine the hood of it was all scratched up the right side didn't have a cover for the light the key was bent in it one of the gauges was bent it was like it's been bounced off of a truck or something I'm not happy with it at all and I can't even get it started and I've done everything that you can to start a mower so I don't know what you're going to do with it to me it doesn't need a score a zero a big fat zero you really need to come and get it or bring a rep here to my house

    Great mower, but NOT a great price!
    I believe this is my 3rd yr. with this mower %26 I've been very satisfied, although the process of mowing in reverse is not handy at all. I purchased this exact mower for just over $1000, NOT over $3000!

    Solid, well built mower
    After 27 yrs my Craftsman mower had to be replaced. I liked the look of the this mower as well as its many features, and am counting on this choice to last as long. After a month I am quite satisfied. This is a well built machine that rides well and cuts evenly without scalping high spots. The deck cleaning attachment ( extra on this model ) is very handy and seems to do a good job when used right after mowing. The only negative point so far is the rather awkward procedure used to reverse when mowing. Also, the manual provided is the bare minimum information required to maintain a machine of the complexity.

    Works as advertised. This is my first lawn tractor. I have put on the mulching kit and the lawn looks great. I got this machine because it fit through my gates, I have 1/2 an acre, and to save my knees and back. It's great for my light duty situation.
