Good set, a bit expensive
It is a great purchase, the best general grevious starfighter build Lego has made so far, a bit expensive at normal price of $80 but when on sale worth the buy

Not worth cost
Purchased it for my 10 yr old who built it within 30 minutes. He found it boring to build. He plays with the sets he builds and found it frustrating that General Grievous kept breaking apart even when the figure was left inside the ship. Had to convince him it was a lego set and not a knock off.

    Super Cool!
Really cool ship! Love the design, the utapau trooper looks like the real thing. Its a really fun toy to build and play with. I wish General Grievous' hands could twist like in the movie. I love combining this set with other sets as I start my clone army collection. I also enjoy collecting battle droids so this set was a perfect add. Its really fun to have light saber duels with and the secret light saber holds are really cool to play with. The cockpit is really cool. LEGO did a great job designing this set. The guns that actually shoot are really cool. It was a fun add to add to my Lego collection.

    An okay build, too expensive
The build was nice and the overall product and figs were great, however where this set falls flat is the price. In no way should this cost as much as it does

    Highly recommend !
My son had been admiring this set for a very long time, when I decided to surprise him with this set. My son is 10 years old he was able to build this set in about two hours, over a couple of days. One of his favorite features is the compartment that stores the lightsabers built inside of the ship. He also likes the exclusive General Grievous mini figure. He likes the clone trooper and General Obi-Wan Kenobi. My son had a great time building this set!

Great build, lots of fun! My only issues were that without a red line around brick placement in the instructions, it's sometimes a little difficult to see where they go. Also, my eyes aren't what they used to be, and it's hard to the difference between black and dark gray, and dark gray and regular gray in the instructions. Theses are minor issues, though. Legos are fun and never fail to entertain.

    General Grievous is back!
This set is really awesome! I really wanted this set, since General Grievous is my favorite Star Wars character, and now that I have it, I just love it! The characters include Obi-Wan Kenobi, an Airborne Clone Trooper, and General Grievous himself. I already have the Duel on Mustafar LEGO set, so Obi-Wan isn't new, but since he slayed Grievous, it is only appropriate to include him, even if the torso is off. I like the Airborne Clone, especially since he is a brand-new figure, but I can agree that it should have been Commander Cody. Now, the General Grievous minifigure is amazing, and this is one out of the only three sets you can get this version of him. The starfighter looks visually beautiful, and it has some tricks up its sleeve! The stud-shooters are nice, but if you think that's the only weapon on board, you're wrong! Underneath the ship is a spring-loaded shooter to pack a bigger punch! Another feature I love is that you can store Grievous's lightsabers in the engines, so when he's not holding them, you have a place to put them. The cockpit is specially designed for Grievous so he can fit all four of his arms in, and I like how it slides. And the best part: NO STICKERS!!!!! A lot of people say this set is horribly priced, and I could agree it could be dropped ten dollars or so, but I would totally buy it again for the awesome figures and ship! Would 100% recommend, and congratulations to LEGO on a job well done!

    Not Much Value for Price
The set itself is wonderful. The price however is not, rather it's more of a rip off more than anything. The Obi-Wan figure is just a cheap grab and place from another unrelated set, just wish Grievous was tan instead of white, and for the airborne trooper it would've been nice to have a new Cody figure. All-in-all the set itself was a fun build and it looks great, but for the price you're paying it is not worth the buy.

    Fun to Build
My son and I had so much fun putting together the Lego Star Wars General Grievous's Starfighter Set. This set was 487 pieces and took us a couple hours to complete. The directions are clear and easy to follow. There are pictures on each page of the instruction book so you can follow along as you put the starfighter together. You could even download the Lego App and scan the bar code for instructions. I like that Lego breaks the pieces of this set up into three different labeled bags. This makes building this set so much easier. You know exactly what pieces are needed for that portion of the set. You can also take breaks in between bags, so that you are not overwhelmed putting it together all at one time. This is what my son and I did. The Lego building blocks snap together easily and stay in place. Lego even includes a brick separator tool to use in case you snap the wrong pieces together. We used it once and it works well. The finished product is sturdy and has two compartments on the ship that open and can be used to store the General's weapons. Overall, this was a fun set to put together and my son enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment once it was complete.

    Looks nice, but disappointing
To start, the MSRP seems bonkers. This set breaks the expected cost based on piece count model that we've come to expect, but it is worth pointing out that many of these pieces are less common, or are pieces commonly found in other colors. I can understand the set commanding a higher than expected cost based on piece uniqueness, but I still think the MSRP is too high. I would bet that the cost of the set is based on the the general 'spare no detail' design and the Minifigs included. About the Minifigs - they are pretty cool. It's tempting to justify the purchase if you don't already own a Grievous Minifig, or for the new clone trooper, or if you don't have this particular Obi-Wan. But the cost is just too high - this isn't a great set to buy if you only care about the Minifigs. I was surprised at the skin tone of the clone trooper's head - most of our clones and stormtroopers are a few years old, but the head here is darker than I expected. It is a nice distinguishing feature - or maybe we just missed the switch to that tone. So, the starfighter - it's a nice enough vehicle with several well thought out design features. The engines are connected via Technic pins, so they can be dismounted easily. Each engine has a sliding door to store lightsabers, and the sliding door has a satisfying click when closed so you know it's going to stay put. Likewise, the rail-mounted canopy has a solid click when fully open, and it doesn't move around [when fully open]. Where it gets very disappointing is when the canopy is closed - there is nothing there to hold it closed except your hand. Unfortunately, this makes this model a poor choice to zoom around the room - descent throws the canopy open, and you may have to unclick it to close it again. Forget about the General performing any evasive maneuvers, because he's likely to fall right out of the starfighter if he goes inverted. I included a picture of what it looks like when the nose of the starfighter is pitched down. To finish - there are some neat pieces here, some good design, and nice Minifigs. However, it's on the small side for a pure display set, the canopy/cockpit design makes it a poor play piece, and the high price is off-putting. In my opinion, this set is best suited for completionists who buy every set from each release cycle.
