Gets the job done, not a miracle machine
This unit was the perfect size for the space I had, wider and shorter than most similar AC units. It drops my 120 square foot room from mid-80s to mid-70s in an hour or two. When considering the negative reviews, keep in mind that this is one of "those products" that attracts negative reviews. It's very easy to install wrong (e.g. not venting well, reviewer thought it was a swamp cooler and didn't hook it up to the window). Single hose machines also have the BIG variable of the air temperature being pulled in to replace what's being pumped outside. It's based on the assumption that the unit can take cool air from the room, and make it *so much hotter* than the air outside, that it cancels out the "backfilling" air sucked in from who-knows-where, and then some. If the air you're sucking in is coming from the hot side of the house or a sweltering attic or garage or something, it might not work well at all. A dual hose unit will be more predictable, it works just like a regular window unit - outside air stays outside, inside air gets cooler. So I suspect a lot of the people saying "THIS AC unit is bad" are really saying "a single hose unit in general isn't right for me".

Be careful what u wish for!
This unit work great for the first 3-4 days after i brought it., It stop putting out as much coolness as it did the first few days. I still use my 6,ooo btu Haler window unit and have my 5,000 btu unit as backup both work good but they're old.
