.The Honeywell unit is perfect for my room.
I was uneasy purchasing the Honeywell room air conditioner because it is the first I've had. I read reviews for hours about different products along this line and for the price, what the unit does and it can all be done from across the room with the remote that comes with it, I made the right choice. What sound the unit makes, puts me to sleep. I'm used to having sealing fans or pedestal fans roaring every night. ( last summer I had 3 fans going it was so hot here in Texas). But since I've set up my air conditioner, I've packed away my fans. I'm blown away by how quickly my room cools. I turned my unit on when I began typing here. It was 80 degrees. It is now 76 degrees. I'm glad a read so many reviews on so many products and chose the Honeywell. Haven't had to drain any water so far. It was easy to set up and I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.

Its ok, it depends
The machine works, it is not as easy to use. Its bulky not very useable. I lit has to be near a window, real close. The hose doesnt stretch that far. Its too loud and makes it hard to no in the same room and list to television or have a conversation.

    great quality.
we bought this last summer and it last the entire summer. We have to buy another board from homedepot which can be put between the door so the hot air can be released through the hole on the board. It cools the house effectively. we will see how it goes this summer.

    Heat wave buster!
Hose is short, so it limits placement of unit. Even though window installation attachment was pretty good I still have to get creative to make sure it was sealing properly, a pool noodle and tape did the trick.

This is by far one of my best purchases ever!
I usually buy things online via Amazon, but since it is such a heavy item, I didn't want to take a chance on there being something wrong with it and having to pay the shipping to return it. I knew that if I purchased it online via Walmart and had any problems, I could return it to my local Walmart. I moved from a 3000 sqft house with central air to a 1000 sqft townhome with an attic fan. The realtor told me that attic fans work better than central air...WRONG!!!! After my first sweltering summer, I contacted a couple of HVAC companies and got cost estimates to install central air. I was surprised that with such a small place, the quotes were $5500-$7000. A couple of the HVAC technicians were very honest and said that it is hard to cool the upstairs master bedroom with central air in the type of townhome that I live in. I was very frustrated, because my HOA does not allow the window Air Conditioners. I am gone 80% of the time and the only place in the townhouse that always felt like an oven in the summer was the master bedroom that faces south and has 2 skylights. This A/C was so easy to install and I am not handy by any means. It makes a quiet white noise that is very soothing. It cools down my master bedroom in just minutes. I saved more then $5K and am cooling the area that needs it more quickly than if I had chosen central air. I LOVE THIS A/C. It is PERFECT!!! A+++++++++++++++++++++++==

    Definitely cools room but..
It certainly cools off my bedroom, but a little noisy. The install for the window was a little difficult because the plastic fillers do not stay on the window ledge. When you close the window on the trim (I have vinyl windows), it won't stay in place. It also wasn't long enough to fit my window width. My son and I temporarily cut a box in the exact length to fit in the window and used duct tape to seal it up. It was a bit of a hassle, but all in all, it does make room a lot colder which was my main goal!

    Happy with purchase
My friend (who does not use internet) asked me to purchase this for him. He tells me that he is very happy with this purchase although the dehumidification part of machine is not working as perfectly as he thought it would. He still has to leave a separate dehumidifier machine running intermittently to keep his room at the humidity he prefers. (If humidification is not a factor in your purchase, you may want to consider purchasing a portable a/c that does not have a humidifier.) Both machines are set to function intermittently and performing well. One thing to note: he said to write that he had to add a separate breaker to handle both machines in the room because when both machines kick in to run, together they draw a good bit of electric. If he plugged in the vacuum cleaner while both machines were running, it tripped his electric off at the breaker box. It would be good for you to consider what your breaker box can handle in a small home such as his.

    Great Machine
I'm a woman and able to put together this machine. If I could do it, anyone could. Cooled from 80 down to 75 in less than 30 mins. I've able to use for dehumidifier, a/c, and fan. All 3 uses are fantastic! Instructions was easy for each use. My office uses the LG one, and it seems they're having a hard time knowing how to use it, hahaha! But after learning how to put each use to work with my Honeywell, I already know the LG was not used properly in my office. That tells me the instructions weren't clear. :) Here are the reasons I didn't rate all 5 stars: 1. There was a little bit of water that came out. I found out when I stepped on a wet part of the carpet. What I did was placed a cardboard under the machine. I figured it shouldn't be on carpet anyway. 2. No auto shutoff when desired temperature met. The a/c is auto but not the fan. Therefore the machine could run til you set the timer of minimum 1 hour. That's better than no timer. Other than those minor issues, I love this machine!

    Great portable ac unit!!
I had recently bought and returned an LG portable ac unit as it said it was an evaporative unit as well as this one....NOT, I had to empty out the unit every half hour just to get the unit to run again, I was so disappointed. I did some more research and found this unit had good reviews, the best in fact that I could find out of the portable ac units. I bought this unit as a last ditch effort to see if this one would work and was so pleasantly surprised as I didn't have much faith from the terrible experience I had previously. The south side of my home is always warmer in the summer and found this unit is Fantastic!! I have not had to empty any water from the unit and it runs great. I live in a high humidity area that just had some of the highest dew points of the summer so far and no need to empty any water and no leaks anywhere on this unit!! I did have to get some weather stripping to use with the window kit which is so easy to use and install which was no big deal since I was so happy that the unit was working as it was supposed to! Highly recommend this unit!
